REUSE. RECYCLE.

REHYDRATE.

In 2018, we committed to opening the first zero single-use plastic fitness studio

We decided to take on the excessive consumption of single-use plastic within the fitness industry with our new sustainability campaign that will eliminate single-use plastic across all 1Rebel studios.

From using 37,000 plastic water bottles per year, with a lifespan of only 45 minutes, the #REBELAGAINSTPLASTIC campaign was born. Raising awareness and encouraging the importance of the London fitness scene to become single-use plastic free.

We have created reusable and sustainable solutions for all single-use products and we invite you to join us to help us drive the change in fitness sustainability and waste reduction.

IT TAKES 3 TIMES MORE WATER TO PRODUCE A WATER BOTTLE THAN IT DOES TO FILL IT

THE ROLL-OUT

Our third studio in South Bank will be operating single-use plastic free. This is a step-by-step initiative that will be implemented across our next 4 London studios.

The #REBELAGAINSTPLASTIC initiative will also expand across our supply chain this year along with regular employee briefings on how to reduce plastic consumption on a day-to-day basis.

REUSABLE BOTTLES

The reusable stainless-steel double-vacuumed bottles will replace plastic water bottles to be reused and washed in studio.

BIODEGRADABLE SMOOTHIE CUPS

Biodegradable protein shake cups and straws will replace the standard 3-part plastic component cups. We will be going topless (no lids) to put an end to the excessive wastage.

BY 2050 THERE WILL BE MORE PLASTIC IN THE OCEANS THAN FISH

THE SITUATION

Every year over 30 million tonnes of plastic is used globally.

In the UK alone, we currently consume 13 billion plastic water bottles every year.

Only 23% of these are recycled and the remaining 10 billion bottles go to landfills or into our oceans where they release toxic chemicals that damage our sea life.

Plastic residue within our oceans now outnumbers sea life 6 to 1 making up almost 90% of the ocean's wastage.

By 2050 there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish.

GET INVOLVED

The #REBELAGAINSTPLASTIC initiative focuses on raising awareness of educating London on the importance of reducing our single-use plastic consumption on a day-to-day basis.

Here are a few ways you you can help...

SIP, DON'T SUCK

Say no to straws. You don't need them and neither do the ocean's marine life's digestive systems...

BRING YOUR OWN BAG

Always pack a reusable bag with you in case of a last minute run to the supermarket.

BUY A REUSABLE BOTTLE

Purchase a reusable water bottle and coffee cup for when you're on-the-go and ask your favourite coffee/ smoothie stores to use them instead. 1R branded bottles will be landing in studio soon.
